Engaging Students in the Classroom: Cooperative Learning Strategies

By the end of this session, participants will be able to explain what cooperative learning is, differentiate between group work and cooperative learning, and implement a number of cooperative learning strategies in their own classrooms.
In this session, participants will first learn briefly about the background of what cooperative learning is and how it can positively impact students’ engagement, relationships, and achievement in the classroom. Next, the presentation will explain the difference between traditional group work and cooperative learning. Lastly and most importantly, the session will explain and model a number of different cooperative learning strategies that teachers can use in their own classrooms, regardless of which subject or grade level they teach.
